Wartime Dress

This is a pattern for a dress with all the typical military-inspired features of the 1940s. The pattern is taken from the Woolworths Economy Knitting Book no. 23. This book is from the 1940s and features women’s and men’s clothing items, including sweaters, cardigans and dresses. 

The size is for a 32-34 inch bust. 

Materials required:

• 16 skeins Woolworth’s Super 3-ply fingering wool. This wool can be substituted with modern materials to achieve a gauge of 13 stitches x 17 rows for 2 x 2”. 
• Knitting needles size UK 10/3.25mm. 
• Crochet hook. 
• 5 buttons.
